Windfarms on the Increase in Southern Africa

EcoPush Group - Clean Energy InvestmentThe International Energy Agency has published a report saying that Namibia, Mozambique and South Africa will be among the five countries to experience the biggest percentage increase in power from onshore wind farms between now and 2018.

Deputy Chief Executive Officer Nigel Purse said there will also be opportunities in South Africa as investors in the country’s first two rounds of renewable energy projects start to sell off their stakes. South Africa plans to add 3,725 megawatts in renewable capacity by the end of 2016 and another 3,200 megawatts by 2020.

“There will be a really exciting opportunity in South Africa for the next 3 to 5 years,” Purse said. “There will be a magnificent amount of activity down there.”

€40m Renewable Energy Investment for Angola, Mozambique

Apple Invests in Solar Farm for Nevada Data Center

India’s clean energy sector will soon get a huge boost, thanks to a $100 million (£65.3m) investment from the US.

John Kerry promotes clean energy investment in India

EcoPush Group - clean energy investmentsClean energy is “one of the greatest economic opportunities of all time,” said John Kerry, visiting energy-starved India for the first time as U.S. Secretary of State.

In remarks in New Delhi Sunday ahead of the fourth annual U.S.-India Strategic Dialogue, Kerry cited India’s rising electricity demand and India’s soaring population, saying the number of Indians who lack access to electricity is about the same as the entire population of the United States.

“Access to energy is the essential ingredient of economic development. You can’t create jobs in the dark,” he said, adding combating climate change and reducing energy poverty are “two interconnected challenges that cannot be separated.”

“Staring us in the face today is one of the greatest economic opportunities of all time. It’s called clean energy,” Kerry said.
